The reverse search feature allows you to identify members who have expressed an interest in your location — whether it be your city, your region, or your country. It offers a strategic way to make your home more visible to the right members and simplifies the exchange process.
How to use reverse search:
To begin, enter your desired destination, travel dates, and number of guests into the search bar, then click the magnifying glass to access the search results.
Once on the results page, select the “Reverse search” option. This will reveal members from that destination who have listed your location as a preferred place to visit.
Optimising your results:
One of the advantages of reverse search is the ability to tailor the scope of your search. If you live in a smaller or lesser-known area, we recommend expanding your search to include the nearest major city, your broader region, or your country.
Important considerations:
-
Precision by design: Reverse search displays only those members who have selected a preferred destination at the same administrative level as your search. For example, if you search for Spain, you will only see members who have explicitly entered Spain — not those who specified Catalonia or Madrid.
This approach allows for more precise and relevant results, as we found that members who list an entire country are often selective about the exact area they wish to visit. -
Flexible availability: If a member has not specified travel dates for a preferred destination, their profile will still appear in the reverse search results, regardless of the dates you’ve entered.
-
Geographic scope: At this time, the system does not support reverse search by continent or very broad regional categories.
