A non-reciprocal exchange means that only one of the two members will stay at the other’s home.
For example:
-
You host another member in your home, but won’t stay at theirs.
-
Or, you stay in someone’s home, but they won’t come to yours.
In this type of exchange, GuestPoints (GP) are used to compensate the host’s hospitality.
How does it work in practice?
When a member sends you a request for a non-reciprocal exchange (or when you send one), the system automatically calculates:
-
The number of GuestPoints per night based on the home’s features
-
The total number of GuestPoints for the stay
This information appears on the right side of your conversation, in the exchange summary.
You’ll see:
-
As a host: how many GuestPoints you will receive
-
As a guest: how many GuestPoints you will give
What if I want to do a reciprocal exchange without using GuestPoints?
That’s entirely possible! The host just needs to set the GP value of their home to 0.
Here’s how:
-
In the exchange summary box, click the pencil icon next to the GP value per night
-
Enter “0”
-
Press Enter to save
But pay attention, only the host can change the GuestPoints value of their home.
When are GuestPoints transferred?
GuestPoints are debited from the guest’s account as soon as the exchange is finalized — even if the stay happens months later.
For example: You finalize an exchange today for a stay in December → the GuestPoints are transferred today.
